European Tech Recruit in Paris is seeking a Research Engineer to design, build, and evaluate agentic AI systems powered by large language models. You will work onsite at a leading research centre to push the boundaries of agentic AI research and engineering.

This permanent role requires strong Python skills, deep learning experience with PyTorch, and a track record in designing meaningful experiments for evaluating agent systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field.
• Strong Python programming and software engineering skills.
• Practical knowledge of large language models, transformers, and modern generative AI systems.
• Experience with PyTorch or equivalent deep-learning framework.
• Ability to design meaningful experiments and evaluate systems objectively.
• Experience building tool-using, coding, or computer-use agents and multi-step LLM systems.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement AI agents based on large language models and multimodal foundation models.
• Build systems involving tool use, planning, memory, retrieval, code execution, and multi-step workflows.
• Develop rigorous evaluation environments, benchmarks, and failure-analysis tools for agent capabilities.
• Rapidly prototype new research ideas and turn promising approaches into robust, reusable implementations.
• Run controlled experiments and make evidence-based technical decisions to improve agent reliability, efficiency, and latency.
• Build clean research infrastructure, APIs, and internal demonstrations.

Research Engineer - Agentic AI / LLM Systems

We are currently partnered with an industry leading research centre in Paris looking to expand their team with a Research Engineer. In this role, you would work to design, build, and evaluate advanced AI agent systems powered by large language models, working at the cutting edge of agentic AI research and engineering.

This is a permanent, onsite opportunity based in Paris, France.

Key responsibilities for this Research Engineer position:

• Design and implement AI agents based on large language models and multimodal foundation models.
