• Présenter les résultats lors des réunions d’équipe et de conférences.

Equipe OPPaLE (Obstetric, Perinatal and Pediatric Life Course Epidemiology)

OPPaLE is a joint research team of the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (INSERM) and the Université Paris-Cité (UPC). It is part of the Centre for Recherche in Epidemiology and Statistics (CRESS). The team’s research focuses on women’s health during pregnancy and its longer term consequences, fetal, newborn and child health related to pregnancy, childbirth and early infancy, and population-based paediatric health in France and internationally. We develop research with an integrated lifelong approach, from preconception to young adulthood, which takes into account i) the continuum from good health and normal development to severe illness and major impairment, ii) the interdependence of health outcomes and exposures of the mother, father and child, and iii) the full spectrum of preventive and therapeutic care in order to allow translation of our findings into care practices, public health interventions and health policies.

Equipe OPPaLE (Obstetric, Perinatal and Pediatric Life Course Epidemiology)

Primary responsibilities and project description

The IMPROVE PRETERM project (IMPROVing lifElong health and development for children and adults born very PRETERM - observational studies to enhance randomised trials for comparative effectiveness research) aims to optimize the discovery and use of evidence-based interventions at birth and in early childhood to improve the health and development of children born very preterm (<32 weeks gestation). This population presents a major public health need, as their health and neurodevelopment outcomes are not improving despite increasing survival rates. Numerous logistical and ethical difficulties hamper the implementation of clinical trials and the generation of evidence on effective interventions, leading to non-standardized and sub-optimal care. This project brings together multidisciplinary and geographically diverse research teams from 13 European countries, working with key stakeholders (families, patients, healthcare professionals and policy makers), to capitalize on advances in causal inference methods and optimize existing data sources (trials, cohort studies, birth registries, neonatal networks) within the RECAP PRETERM platform, an already established European research platform.

The researcher associate will be responsible for undertaking a research project to describe national data systems in Europe and their capacity for linking to other sources. Identified as a priority area for further reseach within the IMPROVE PRETERM project, this review is needed for reinforcing observational research on very preterm infants that includes long-term outcomes. This review will use contacts from the Euro-Peristat project, a network of epidemiologists, statisticians and data managers using population birth data to monitor perinatal health. It will assess linkage of routine sources and linkage for research within existing systems in 29 European countries.

• Review the literature on health information systems which link birth data with other sources to enrich information on the characteristics, health and long-term outcomes of children.
• Develop a questionnaire and interview guide to collect information on informations systems in Europe and field this questionnaire within the Euro-Peristat and IMPROVE PRETERM consortia.
• Analyse data from the literature review and original data collection to produce a report and scientific presentations in collaboration with other researchers working on the project.
• Assess opportunities for creating synergy between researchers working with population birth data in Europe within IMPROVE PRETERM and Euro-Peristat and conduct outreach about this project on project websites and social media.
• Present results at team meetings, within the consortium and at scientific conferences

Teleworking possibilities*

2 days per week contingent on approval by supervisor.
