Mercor is seeking a Research Physics Expert to solve complex physics challenges remotely. The ideal candidate will have a PhD or postdoc in a relevant field and proficiency in Python, LaTeX, and Jupyter.

This role involves auditing solutions, documenting reasoning processes, and contributing to innovative research. You will work approximately 10 hours per week and earn between $80 and $140 per hour based on your expertise.

Qualifications

• PhD or postdoc in the relevant subfield, senior PhD student minimum.
• Postdoc or junior professor in the relevant subfield.
• Hands-on familiarity with at least two canonical methods of the target subfield.
• 3–5 representative publications in the target subfield.

Responsabilités

• Solve research-level physics challenges with verifiable derivations.
• Decompose challenges into standalone sub-problems.
• Audit submitted solutions for correctness and scope.
• Document chain-of-thought reasoning and verification test cases.
