Job summary

Kapa.ai seeks a Research Engineer to advance its technical capabilities, answering increasingly challenging questions with AI assistants. You will collaborate with the founding team and engineers to design experiments and apply the latest ML/NLP developments.

Ideal candidates hold a Masters or PhD in CS/ML, have hands-on experience with LLMs, fine-tuning, and vector search, and thrive in a fast, loosely defined environment. Remote in Europe, with Copenhagen office for on-site/hybrid.

Qualifications

• Master's/PhD in CS, ML, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• Deep understanding of ML, DL (incl. LLMs) and NLP.
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning and deploying large language models.
• Experience with vector databases, search indices, or data stores for search and retrieval.
• Experience building evaluation systems for LLMs or search.
• Familiarity with lexical and dense vector search techniques.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with loosely defined goals.
• Interest in contributing to kapa.ai through ML research.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the founding team and software engineers.
• Design and run experiments to improve model performance.
• Stay up-to-date with developments in ML/NLP and apply them to kapa.ai.
• Contribute to building an agentic retrieval system that balances speed and accuracy.
