Canonical is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead Multipass, the workstation mini-cloud. You will guide a distributed team, grow engineers, and drive delivery of high‑quality software. This role requires strong C++ expertise, cross‑platform experience, and open source involvement.

Expect remote work with global travel for 4–6 weeks yearly. You will mentor engineers, influence technical strategy, and collaborate with Canonical and the community to deliver practical local cloud

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20) and software engineering best practices.
• Cross-platform development experience on macOS and/or Windows.
• Knowledge of hypervisor technologies (Hyper-V, VirtualBox, KVM).
• Open source experience and community involvement.
• Proven track record of growing and developing engineers.

Responsabilités

• Lead a team of remote engineers across regions.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineers and careers.
• Set expectations with other teams, senior management, and partners.
• Promote modern software development practices and code quality.
• Engage with Canonical and open source communities to align on strategy.
• Travel 4–6 weeks per year for events when needed.
