Job summary

Mercor seeks a Drug Discovery Scientist for a remote, contract role. You will design AI-driven research problems in drug discovery and build data rooms with traceable sources to support decision making.

The position requires a PhD or equivalent track record and expertise in mechanistic enzymology or structure-based drug design, with the ability to defend rigorous conclusions. Remote, 20–40 hours per week, contract basis.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent industry track record.
• Expertise in enzymology and structure-based drug design.
• Ability to pose and defend rigorous, well-grounded scientific answers.

Responsibilities

• Design realistic research problems for AI models in drug research and development.
• Build a data room from real, source-grounded data with traceable values.
• Write a grading document that scores a submitted memo on substance and rigor.
• Validate and run verification and calibration before submission.
• Revise and own the rework if a reviewer requests changes.
• Work independently and asynchronously to ensure high-quality deliverables.
