Spore.Bio in Paris is hiring an R&D Microbiology Lab Technician to support culture work, data collection, and protocol development for industrial microbiology applications.

You will manage samples, ensure traceability, and assist cross-functional teams to build a robust microbiology data library while maintaining safety and quality standards. BAC+2/3 in biology or biotechnology with 1 year lab experience is expected; Excel skills and English at B2 level or above are assets.

Qualifications

• Educational background: BAC+2 / +3 in biology / microbiology / biotechnology / quality control.
• At least 1 year of proven lab technician experience, preferably in microbiology and with the food sector.
• Knowledge of bacterial culture methods for industrial applications.
• Data management skills, especially Excel and lab notebooks.
• Interest in R&D and developing new lab methods.
• Good communication and English (B2) for cross-team collaboration.
• Energetic, proactive, detail-oriented, and autonomous.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and execute bacterial culture techniques on Petri dishes following protocols.
• Develop and improve culture protocols; collect data and perform preliminary analyses.
• Manage samples with traceability and proper documentation.
• Support lab operations: supplies, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with hardware and ML teams to build a microbiology data library.

About the role

• Bacterial culture preparation and execution: Prepare and conduct bacterial culture techniques on Petri dishes, ensuring adherence to established protocols.

• Protocol development, data acquisition, and analysis: Assist in developing and improving culture protocols, collect experimental data, and conduct preliminary analyses to optimize results.

• Sample management and traceability: Handle and manage samples with precision, ensuring complete traceability and proper documentation.

• Laboratory operations and maintenance: Involvement in managing laboratory tasks, including supply orders, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with hardware and machine learning teams to develop a robust microbiology and food data library.

About you

Required qualifications/ experience :

• Educational background : BAC+2 / +3 in biology / microbiology / biotechnology / quality control.

• Experience : minimum 1 year of proven experience as a laboratory technician, ideally with a focus on microbiology. Familiarity with the food industry is a plus.

• Microbiological culture knowledge: Understanding of bacterial culture methods and techniques relevant to industrial applications.

• Data management skills: Proficiency in data management tools (especially Excel) and experience with laboratory notebook systems for accurate record-keeping.

• Research and development interest: Motivated by research and development activities, particularly in developing new lab methods.

• Excellent communication skills: Comfortable interacting with different teams and levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders. English proficiency (B2 level or above) is an asset for effective cross-team collaboration.

• Personal attributes: Energetic, proactive, with high attention to detail and an ability to work autonomously.
