A leading maritime and logistics company based in France is seeking a Powerplant Engineer to ensure the airworthiness and performance of their aircraft. Responsibilities include analyzing data and monitoring engine health, as well as compliance with regulatory standards. Candidates should have a degree in engineering and experience in powerplant roles, ideally with knowledge of turbofan engines and regulatory requirements. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for this position.

Connaissances

Since 1978, our Group has been constantly growing and innovating to offer its customers increasingly efficient maritime, land, air, and logistics solutions. Driven by a strong desire to design ever more effective solutions to serve a world in motion, the Group launched CMA CGM AIR CARGO in 2021, thereby expanding its transport and logistics offering.

Already equipped with a fleet of 4 long‑haul aircraft (1 A330F and 3 B777F), the airline will be further reinforced with eight Airbus A350Fs by 2027, making CMA CGM AIR CARGO the launch operator of this new aircraft. Moreover, thanks to support from a partner, AIR CARGO now operates on the trans‑pacific route with two additional B777Fs, which we own.

More recently, CMA CGM acquired Air Belgium, which operates a fleet of 2 A330Fs and 2 B747‑8Fs.

Responsibilities

The Power Plant Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the continuing airworthiness and operational reliability of CMA CGM Air Cargo and Air Belgium’s aircraft engines and auxiliary power units (APUs). This position focuses on analysing airworthiness data, monitoring engine health, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting long‑term performance and reliability planning.

Technical Support for Airworthiness
  • Support the Technical Management team in meeting Continuing Airworthiness requirements, with a focus on engines and APUs.
Airworthiness Data Analysis
  • Review and assess incoming engine‑related airworthiness data such as Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Service Letters (SLs), and Safety Information Bulletins (SIBs).
  • Evaluate applicability, prepare related engineering orders, task cards, and material requirements.
Powerplant Modifications & Documentation Management
  • Investigate and propose engine and APU modifications.
  • Manage engineering documentation, ensuring updates in the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
  • Maintain accurate records of engine‑related modifications and ADs.
Technical Investigations
  • Conduct root cause analyses and technical investigations for incidents involving powerplant systems or maintenance‑related issues.
Introduction & Re‑Delivery
  • Prepare engine and APU introduction files in accordance with EASA/OSAC/BCAA requirements.
  • Compile re‑delivery documentation for engines/APUs being returned to lessors, ensuring full compliance with lease agreements.
Engine Monitoring and Reliability
  • Monitor Engine Condition Trend Monitoring (ECTM) and borescope inspection (BSI) data, and issue monthly health and reliability reports.
  • Forecast engine removal plans based on ECTM data, Life‑Limited Parts (LLPs), and performance metrics.
  • Track and manage LLPs using approved methodologies and ensure full documentation is maintained.
Powerplant‑Specific Management
  • Monitor spare engine status and ensure compliance with lease conditions and delivery obligations.
  • Participate in the reliability programme and coordinate necessary corrective actions based on findings.
Shop Visits & Representation
  • Define shop visit (ESV) work scopes considering engine condition, LLP status, and lease redelivery terms.
  • Liaise with MROs for quotations and contract negotiation.
  • Represent CMA CGM Air Cargo and/or Air Belgium during engine shop visits to ensure quality standards and contractual compliance.
Profile
  • Degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a CAMO or powerplant engineering role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory standards (EASA Part CAMO, FAA) and Continuing Airworthiness regulations.
  • Strong background in powerplant systems (turbofan, turboprop engines) and engine condition monitoring systems.
  • Experience with GE90 engines (B777), GEnx‑2B67 engines (B747‑8F), RR XWB and/or Trent 700 is highly desirable; experience with GEnx‑1B engines (B787) would also be considered.
  • Hands‑on experience in an engine shop is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, LLP tracking, and powerplant life‑cycle management.
  • English Language Proficiency level 5 or above.
  • Excellent organisational and documentation management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Teams and Office 365 e.g., Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) like Oases, Envision, AMOS, or TRAX.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise between departments, regulatory authorities, and external vendors.
