Offer Description

The post‑doctoral researcher will work with data from the Synopse project, led by Nantes Métropole. The project is a digital system for observing population health and the environment, funded by the national “Intelligent and Sustainable Territories” call. Partners include Nantes University, Nantes University Hospital, the ARS, AURAN and Air Pays de la Loire. The aim is to deploy an innovative partnership tool to support metropolitan public health policy through a platform for exchanging, cross‑referencing and modelling data. An evaluation phase is included to improve visualisation, understanding and evaluation of the data available.

The post‑doctoral researcher will be responsible for implementing the display and visualisation of spatial and urban data, studying and evaluating these representations, and contributing to the evaluation of use cases developed as part of the Synopse project.

Responsibilities
  • Visualisation and representation of spatial and urban data: work with data supplied by the project partners, design visual representations adapted to the analysis contexts, study the effects of these representations on understanding, interpretation and decision‑making.
  • Evaluation of representations and user tests: design and implement user test protocols in collaboration with stakeholders, conduct experiments and analyse the results to draw up recommendations.
  • Eye‑tracking and in‑situ evaluation: use eye‑tracking tools to evaluate physical and urban routes, contribute to the analysis of data from these devices, work in conjunction with the Experience‑Lab (XPLAB) research platform in Halle 6 Ouest.
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, 3‑D modelling (research experience 1‑4 years).
  • Knowledge of research methodology and experimental protocols.
  • Principles of data visualisation; data analysis (statistics, exploratory visualisation).
  • Understanding of data quality and significance challenges, particularly in health or urban contexts.
  • Fluency in English (good level) and French (excellent).
  • Experience with eye‑tracking tools (data collection, processing, interpretation).
  • Strong interpersonal skills: autonomy, initiative, organisation, scientific rigour, reproducibility, critical thinking, collaboration, adaptability.
  • Analytical and synthesis skills: ability to understand complex issues and extract essential information for decision‑making.
