BRGM invites applications for a full-time post-doctoral position within the Energy and Decarbonization Directorate. You will develop algorithms to integrate a mechanical and seismological code into the Orison platform and build hydro-mechanical models of geothermal sites in France, using induced seismicity data.

The role requires a PhD in seismology or rock mechanics, strong modeling skills, Python proficiency, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• PhD in seismology (geosciences) or rock mechanics, obtained within the last 3 years.
• Strong knowledge in physical phenomena modeling and inverse problems.
• Proficiency in computing environments and languages, particularly Python.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent initiative and autonomy in organizing daily work.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal relations.
• English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).

Responsabilités

• Develop algorithms to integrate a mechanical and seismological calculation code into BRGM's Orison data assimilation platform.
• Test developments to create and improve hydro-mechanical models of deep geothermal sites in France.
• Use induced seismicity catalogs as input data for the models.
• Contribute to R&D missions, public policy support, and commercial activities in France and internationally.
