Université de Strasbourg invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral position in economics, starting December 1, 2026, under a public law contract. The project focuses on theoretical and computational social choice within ecological economics.

A PhD in economics or history and philosophy of economics is required, with fluency in English and collaboration across teams. The appointed researcher will join BETA, work 100% time, and engage in seminars, conferences, and collaborative research

Qualifications

• The successful candidate must hold a PhD in economics or the history and philosophy of economics, awarded no more than three years prior to the start of the contract.
• The thesis and/or publications must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of one of the following research fields: social choice theory, computational social choice, ecological economics.
• Operational skills/expertise: The thesis and/or publications must demonstrate solid knowledge of computational and/or formal research methods. The candidate must be interested in the historical and philosophical aspects of theoretical debates.
• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in French is not required, but some basic knowledge is appreciated.
• Willingness to work and collaborate with other memberes of the project

Responsabilités

• Recruitment of a postdoctoral researcher for one year beginning in December 2026 or earlier and 100% effort.
• Participate in BETA seminars and national/international conferences.
• Collaborate with the project coordinator and other project members.
• Study the historical evolution of normative economics and related debates as part of the project.
• Examine how computational social choice theories could advance ecological economics within the project scope.
