Le Mans Université via LAUM invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position focusing on intelligent assistants for NDT and SHM. The project investigates how foundation models can support inspection data interpretation and robust scientific reasoning.

The one-year contract starts on 1 October 2026, with a gross monthly salary of €3,300. Applicants with a PhD in acoustics, mechanics, signal processing, instrumentation or computer science are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• PhD in acoustics, mechanics, signal processing, instrumentation, computer science or closely related discipline.
• Experience in NDT, SHM, data analysis, applied AI or experimental research encouraged.
• Strong interest in interdisciplinary research combining engineering sciences and AI expected.

Responsabilités

• Investigate how foundation models can support NDT and SHM specialists in analysing inspection data.
• Develop a methodology for using foundation models as explainable, robust scientific assistants.
• Deliver a first proof-of-concept intelligent assistant for NDT and SHM and publish results.
