IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) in France is hosting a doctoral research position as part of the ERC Karst project. The successful candidate will work on dynamic karst networks, develop reduced models, and integrate data from multiple partners.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary skills in geosciences, mathematics, and physics with strong coding in Python/C++. The project involves simulations of water flow in large networks, grouping unknowns, and handling conductivity uncertainties.

Qualifications

  • Master-level degree in Geosciences, Mathematics or Physics or equivalent
  • Strong foundation in applied mathematics and statistical physics
  • Programming experience in Python and/or C++ is advantageous

Responsabilités

  • Advance dynamic modeling of karst networks with topology changes
  • Contribute to development and testing of models and openkarst code
  • Collaborate with international partners (Barcelona, Neuchâtel, Ljubljana) and integrate field data
