Job summary

Mercor connects elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs. We are seeking a Computational Particle & Nuclear Physics Expert on a remote, part-time basis (15–20 hours/week) to design challenging problems and develop datasets using scikit-hep and related Python tools.

You will test problems against state-of-the-art AI models and refine them based on feedback, working independently and asynchronously with global teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level training in a STEM field (MS/PhD or equivalent).
• Proven proficiency with at least one scientific software library evidenced by publications, OSS, or work.
• Strong Python skills for problem setups, oracle functions, and validators.
• Ability to work independently and refine designs based on feedback.
• Experience with Linux/terminal and remote compute sandboxes.

Position: Computational Particle & Nuclear Physics Expert Type: Contract Compensation: $70–$100/hour Location: Remote Commitment: 15–20 hours/week

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Graduate-level training in a relevant STEM field ( MS, PhD , or equivalent research experience).
• Proven proficiency with at least one listed scientific software library through research publications, open‑source contributions, or professional work.
• Strong Python skills for writing problem setups, oracle functions, and solution validators.
• Ability to work independently and refine problem designs based on feedback.
• Comfortable working in a Linux/terminal environment with remote compute sandboxes.

Preferred

• Experience across multiple listed domains or tools.
• Familiarity with benchmark or evaluation design.
• Background in scientific teaching or exam/problem‑set design.
• Experience with computational reproducibility and containerized environments.
