Alignerr seeks a Mechanical Engineering Expert to design hard problems, audit AI reasoning, and write benchmark solutions for AI training. Remote, hourly contract with 10–40 hours per week, you contribute deep engineering expertise in mechanics, thermodynamics, and CAD/CAM to advance AI understanding of engineering.

You will work with leading AI labs, targeting rigorous correctness and evaluative benchmarks while maintaining rigorous engineering standards. Experienced candidates welcome.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Strong foundational knowledge across solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes.
• Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical derivations clearly in written form.
• Highly detail-oriented — precise with mathematical derivations, unit analysis, and physical constraints.
• No prior AI experience required — your engineering expertise is what matters.

Responsabilités

• Design Advanced Engineering Problems — craft challenging, domain-specific problems across fluid dynamics, FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to stress-test AI performance.
• Author Gold-Standard Solutions — write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation.
• Audit AI Reasoning — evaluate AI-generated outputs for technical accuracy, physical correctness, and adherence to engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
• Identify and Fix Reasoning Failures — spot logical errors and provide structured feedback to improve AI reasoning.

What You'll Do

• Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Craft challenging, domain-specific problems across fluid dynamics, FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to rigorously stress-test AI performance
• Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
• Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated outputs — including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications — for technical accuracy, physical correctness, and adherence to engineering standards (ASME, ISO, etc.)
• Identify and Fix Reasoning Failures — Spot logical errors such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions, and provide structured feedback to improve AI reasoning

Who You Are

• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
• Strong foundational knowledge across one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
• Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical derivations clearly in written form
• Highly detail-oriented — precise with mathematical derivations, unit analysis, and physical constraints
• No prior AI experience required — your engineering expertise is what matters

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, technical writing, or evaluation workflows
• Proficiency in engineering tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
• Familiarity with reviewing or generating technical documentation
