Quest Global is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Pau, France team. You will provide engineering support to improve BiQ processes, prevent defects, and drive improvements in product quality and process control on site.

You will work with cross-functional teams, interpret GD&T, and manage PFMEA, control plans, and PPAP as part of product validation. Fluency in French and English is preferred for collaboration with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems in Aerospace manufacturing.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and service providers.

Responsabilités

  • Provide manufacturing engineering solutions to improve build quality and prevent non-conformance.
  • Develop and implement PFMEA, control plans and inspection strategies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and standardization.
  • Read drawings, GD&T, and AS9100/ISO requirements to ensure conformance.
  • Perform data analysis (RFT, MSA, SPC) and support root-cause analysis using 8D.
  • Audit suppliers and review PPAPs as part of process validation.

Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Pau, France

Type of activity: on-site

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Provide manufacturing engineering solutions in the areas of Build in Quality (BiQ) by identifying the need for process control before producing parts thus preventing non-conformance by error proofing or by detecting the causes of non-conformance and stopping the process before a defect occurs. Provide Engineering support to customers to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems. Drive improvements in all related manufacturing processes including those related to products, equipment and product quality for customers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Understand the engineering definitions and sequential process for better results in achieving Right at first time
  • Good decision-making capabilities in preparation of process
  • Sound knowledge in new product introduction in line with the Manufacturing launch plan
  • Ability to create characteristic matrix and identify feature-based severity and key process variables
  • Ability To Interpret GD&T From model-based definition and legacy drawings
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and standards
  • Work with cross-functional teams, local experts, partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required and create and implement PFMEA
  • Good understanding of key processes, controlling methods, methods of measurement, inspection strategy to create and implement control Plans / Inspection Plans
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  • Support the investigation of all non-conformance reports and all responses using proven problem-solving methodology
  • Ability to analyze shop floor data in the form of various RFT data, RAG charts, six pack analysis reports and suggest process improvements and fool proof methods for non-conformance reduction
  • Ability to create charts using Minitab
  • Ability to integrate the various BiQ tools with other processes such as Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Ability to review and approve fairs and PPAP as part of process and product validation
  • Thorough understanding of APQP process

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate in a Mechanical Degree/Diploma or equivalent work experience. Should have background on Quality Management Systems Aerospace manufacturing and improvement experience.

IT SYSTEMS & SOTWARE SKILLS

MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project. Analysis tools: Minitab, Ace tools, SAP, Net Inspect

Auto Ballooning tools: BCT, DISCUSS etc.

Product Lifecycle Management: Siemens Teamcenter / ptc Windchill / Dassualt Innovia

ADDITIONAL NON-MANDATORY SKILLS

Good understanding of Aerospace manufacturing environment

DESIRED PROFILE

Willing to travel to the Customer site & Service providers as required

Proactive approach to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Experience
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
  • Good knowledge on various manufacturing processes
  • Fully conversant in reading and understanding Engineering & Manufacturing Drawings
  • Sound knowledge interpreting the GD&T (standards ASME Y 14.5, JES 161)
  • Sound knowledge in measurements system analysis (MSA)
  • Hands on experience in using all types of measuring & testing equipment, both contact - non-contact, analogue & digital
  • Able to support root cause analysis and implementation of problem-solving techniques like 8D
  • Working knowledge and experience of using QC tools and SPC analysis
  • Hands on experience of working in CFTs for creation of PFMEA and control plans
  • Working knowledge on concessions, containment procedures and traceability techniques
  • Sound knowledge and experience of working on FAIR, APQP, PPAP
  • Awareness of aerospace requirements (AS9100, various ISO)
  • Good communication skills in both French and English
