Description du poste
Overview

Type de structure : Université PSL is launching a call for applications for a Junior Professor Chair in Chemistry titled "Bio-imaging and Probes for Diagnostic". The activity will take place at the Institute of Chemistry for Health and Life Sciences (i-CLeHS, ENSCP-PSL). This is a tenure track position with a reduced teaching load leading to a full professor position at the i-CLeHS (ENSCP-PSL). The position will start as early as December 2025 (or at a mutually agreed later date). The position is open to all researchers wishing to develop their activity in Chemistry at the interface with biology and medicine. The position includes an internationally competitive salary and competitive start-up package.

Wholly committed to excellence in education, PSL is a global university seeking diversity, dialogue across disciplines, and personalized academic pathways. The recruitment is part of the development project of the i-CLeHS and the SEISAD team, aiming to expand research in health engineering and chemobiology.

The SEISAD team (Electrochemical Synthesis, Imaging, and Analytical Systems for Diagnosis) develops projects focused on early detection of pathological signals using chemical and analytical methodologies, combining expertise in electrochemical biosensors, nano-objects as imaging agents, and MRI/optical imaging methods and image processing for preclinical theranostics. The recruitment in bioimaging fits the team’s strategy and complements existing medical imaging developments.

The Junior Professor will contribute to PSL\'s Health Engineering initiatives and to the European University EELISA, enhancing PSL’s attractiveness for European partners and potential double degree collaborations.

Rémunération et démarrage : The gross annual salary and start-up package are described in the remuneration section below.

Contexte et mission : Research Project

Contexte et mission

Bioimaging offers non-invasive analytical tools with significant advances in biomedical research. The project involves steps from in vitro to in vivo models to identify biomarkers and develop diagnostics or therapies using MRI techniques and preclinical optical imaging. Tasks include design, characterization, and evaluation of new imaging probes or formulations for cancer, ischemia, inflammation, and other pathologies in preclinical settings. MRI and optical imaging methods will be used to reveal contrasts and perform multiparametric analyses. The Junior Professor will participate in writing national and international projects, contribute to developing technological platforms, and drive valorization of the team\'s research.

Teaching Project

The teaching project aims to transmit the basics of research and methodologies around bioimaging, linking to therapeutic research and nanomedicine. It includes molecular and nanoparticle imaging probes, toxicity, imaging techniques (MRI, optics, ultrasound, PET, X-ray), analytical characterization methods, data and image processing, and interpretation. Teaching will be linked to PSL master programs in Chemistry, Health Engineering, and engineering training at ENSCP, and to Health Engineering training actions within EELISA. The Junior Professor will also help set up courses at the Bachelor level at Université PSL. The teaching load during the pre-tenure period is minimum 64 hours TD per year, then 192 hours TD as professor. No additional courses or work should be undertaken during this period, which should be devoted primarily to research.

Corresponding CNU Section(s): 31, 32, 64

Keywords: bioimaging, optical and MRI spectroscopy, biomarkers, biological probes

Contract Duration: Up to 6 years for the tenure-track phase, followed by tenure in the university professor corps after evaluation by a dedicated committee.

Start Date: From December 2025

Selection and Auditions

The evaluation will be carried out by a committee composed of internal and external PSL experts. The committee composition will be made public before its work. Pre-selected candidates will be invited to an audition in two parts:

  • A practical situation: public seminar (30 minutes) and Q&A (10 minutes).
  • An in-person or video audition with the recruitment committee (45 minutes) to discuss motivation, research, and teaching projects.

Auditions will be conducted in English. Provisional audition period: October–November 2025.

Evaluation Criteria
  • Excellence of the candidate, motivation, supervision capacity
  • Quality, ambition, and originality of the research and teaching projects
  • Integration of the project within the laboratory
  • Ability to establish collaborative networks
  • Adequacy of means to the proposed project and ability to mobilize additional resources
