OVHai LLM is seeking a junior researcher in Paris to join our team focused on training frontier LLMs. You will work with senior engineers, applying deep learning concepts and training small‑scale LLMs.

You’ll contribute across data, training, post‑training and evaluation stages, with focus determined during interviews based on your background and team needs. Fluency in English and French is expected.

Formación

• Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, applied mathematics or related field; PhD students finishing up welcome.
• Solid Python. Write readable code, use git, write tests.
• Hands‑on experience with PyTorch and the Hugging Face ecosystem (transformers, datasets, tokenizers, trl or peft).
• Understanding of transformers (attention, positional encodings, tokenisation) and LLM training lifecycle (pretraining, SFT, RLHF/DPO, RLVR).
• Comfortable with Linux, command line, and remote machines.
• Curiosity, rigour with data, and willingness to say “I don’t know, let me check.”
• Fluent in both English and French (written and spoken).

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and analyse training data: write filtering and deduplication scripts, inspect samples, build small quality classifiers, generate and validate synthetic data.
• Fine‑tune models (SFT, DPO, RL) on domain data and measure the effect.
• Run and extend our evaluation suite: add benchmarks, build small domain‑specific test sets, analyse failures.
• Help operate training runs on the cluster: launch jobs, monitor metrics, spot problems, write tools to fix issues.
• Reproduce results from papers on small models and report what transfers.
• Contribute to internal tools, dashboards and documentation.
