Job summary

MaiaSpace in La Défense/Courbevoie, Île-de-France, invites applications for an internship in the Avionics team focused on test and flight data exploitation and model calibration for its upcoming space launcher program.

You will build a Python data pipeline, validate data, generate reports, calibrate models with the Fluids & Pressurization team, and help integrate these tools into the ground processing chain. This role suits curious, rigorous hands-on learners with Agile experience.

Qualifications

  • Data analysis and Python tooling experience is relevant for data-driven projects.
  • Interest in test and flight data as well as model calibration is required.
  • Familiarity with agile ways of working is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Data exploitation pipeline: develop Python tools to ingest, decode, clean, synchronize and post-process test and flight data, including telemetry.
  • Data quality and traceability: define data validation rules and metadata conventions and contribute to structuring the test and flight data archive so it can be queried by all teams.
  • Automated reporting: with the user teams, define the key indicators to monitor, then generate standardized plots and reports for each test or flight.
  • Model calibration: together with the Fluids & Pressurization team, set up automated recalibration of physical models against measured data, for example pressurization, tank thermodynamics or feed line hydraulics. This involves parameter identification, optimization and sensitivity analysis.
  • Uncertainty and validation: assess model accuracy and parameter uncertainties and take sensor uncertainties into account in the calibration process.
  • Integration: contribute to integrating these tools into the ground processing chain so that each new campaign automatically feeds the models used for the next predictions.

Job description

MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. We are driven by the belief that access to space is a major enabler for a better and more sustainable life on Earth, addressing the challenges faced by humanity: climate, resources, connectivity, and data. Our aim is to design, test and fly a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle.

Inside MaiaSpace development teams, you will join the Avionics team. This team defines and develops the launcher's electrical and data architecture, including onboard computers, sensors and data acquisition, telemetry and the associated ground processing chain. It is responsible for making test and flight data available, reliable and usable by all launcher teams. The team works closely with the propulsion, fluid systems, GNC, test and mission teams. As part of this team, you will be at the heart of the preparation and analysis of the first test campaigns and launches.

Within the Avionics team, we propose the following training topic for 2027 :

Test & flight data exploitation and physical model calibration

Test campaigns and flights generate large volumes of measurements from the launcher's sensors and acquisition systems, such as pressures, temperatures, flow rates and valve states. Turning this data into usable engineering knowledge and using it to calibrate the physical models that support design and flight predictions, is a key part of the development loop. The goal of this internship is to automate this loop, from the acquisition chain output to the recalibrated models. Your tasks will include:

  • Data exploitation pipeline: develop Python tools to ingest, decode, clean, synchronize and post-process test and flight data, including telemetry. This covers format handling, sensor health checks, filtering, event detection and time alignment across acquisition sources.

Depending on the context at the beginning of the internship and on your profile, the emphasis may be placed more on the data pipeline side or on the model calibration side.
