ENGIE Campus La Garenne-Colombes is seeking a Quantitative Research Intern to support weather analytics for short-term power markets. You will collaborate with traders, apply statistics and ML to generate synthetic weather scenarios and improve forecast representations.

Fluent English is required, and a Master's degree in a quantitative field is preferred. You will contribute to market insights by aligning forecasts from multiple sources and developing datasets that isolate weather signals,

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Previous academic or project experience in quantitative research, statistics, or machine learning is a plus.
  • Fluent English.

Responsabilités

  • Conduct statistical analyses of weather forecast runs to assess representativeness and accuracy.
  • Develop machine learning models to generate synthetic weather scenarios and improve forecast representativeness.
  • Align weather forecast runs from different sources and create aggregated datasets to isolate the weather signal.
  • Collaborate with traders to translate research findings into market insights.

Context

As part of the Gas & Electricity Market-Making Team, you will contribute to quantitative research focused on weather and its impact on short-term power markets. Working closely with traders, you will help improve the understanding of market dynamics and the influence of weather conditions on energy trading activities.

Your Mission
  • Conduct statistical analyses of weather forecast runs to assess their representativeness and accuracy.
  • Develop machine learning models to generate synthetic weather scenarios and improve forecast representativeness.
  • Align weather forecast runs from different sources and combine them into aggregated datasets that better isolate the weather signal.
  • Collaborate with traders to understand market dynamics and translate research findings into valuable market insights.

  • Solid foundations in machine learning, probability, and statistics.

Education & Experience
  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Previous academic or project experience in quantitative research, statistics, or machine learning is a plus.
Languages
  • Fluent English.
