Job summary

InterDigital is seeking a Master’s student for an internship in Rennes, France, to work on hybrid implicit neural representations (INR) for image compression within the SympAI team of the New Media Codecs Group at the Video Lab.

You will implement C++ functions and Python scripts, explore entropy, up-sampler and synthesis networks, and validate results through simulations. Collaboration and fluent English are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Master’s student in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering or related field.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Familiarity with 3D geometry, compression, computer vision or computer graphics is a plus.
• Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal skills.
• Demonstrates strong collaboration abilities and team mindset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing INR hybrid architectures for image compression.
• Contribute to design and development of software addressing these challenges.
• Perform simulations and rigorous testing to ensure correctness and performance.
• Implement, test, and validate proposed components and algorithms.
• Communicate results through documentation, internal reports, and potential IP filings.
