Job summary

BD in Le Pont-de-Claix, France is seeking a Materials Scientist/Engineer to lead expert investigations on polymers, elastomers, metals, and surfaces for medical devices. You will evaluate failure mechanisms and coordinate internal and external studies across design, quality, manufacturing, and innovation.

With an engineering/master/PhD in materials science and 5–8 years of industrial or R&D experience, you will apply FTIR, Raman, DSC, DMA, SEM/EDX, XPS, AFM, and surface analysis to deliver

Qualifications

• Engineer or Master or Doctorate in materials science, materials chemistry, physics or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in material characterization and analysis in industry or R&D.
• Deep expertise in polymers, elastomers, surfaces and interfaces; tribology is a plus.
• Proficiency with characterization techniques such as FTIR, Raman, rheology, DSC, DMA, SEM/EDX, XPS, AFM or similar surface analysis methods.
• Strong ability to conduct experiments, analyze data, and provide technical recommendations.
• Professional English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific expertise on materials used in medical devices.
• Define strategies for characterization and investigation plans covering chemical, thermal, mechanical, rheological and surface properties.
• Design, coordinate, and monitor experimental studies internally or with external labs.
• Analyze results, correlate structure to properties and performance, and formulate technical recommendations.
• Identify failure mechanisms and perform root-cause analyses to support problem resolution.
• Evaluate new materials and prepare technical reports with traceability under quality and regulatory requirements.
