GE Vernova in France seeks an experienced Engineer to lead the Centre of Excellence for Engineering in Grid Automation. You will drive best practices for after-sales support and guide the global COE team to achieve strategic objectives for GA product lines.

You will design control, protection, and monitoring solutions for substations, develop demonstrators, and mentor regional teams while coordinating across interfaces with IEDs, SCADA, and cybersecurity initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and/or equivalent knowledge/experience in Electrical Engineering.
• Very solid experience in leading technical project execution in grid automation portfolios.
• Good knowledge of Power System and Substation Control & Protection Applications for Transmission, Generation, and Industry segments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in English, customer-focused.
• Strong experience with computer technology, protection and control system design, validation, commissioning, cybersecurity, and communication protocols such as IEC61850, IEC 103, Modbus, DNP3.0, TCP/IP, Ethernet.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues.
• Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously within stringent time constraints, requires discretion and independent judgment, and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co‑workers, stakeholders, and clients.
• Familiarity with product Quality metrics, MTBF, FMEA/HAZOP, cybersecurity, and functional safety.
• Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time. English (written/spoken) mandatory for the position.

Responsabilités

• Design engineering solutions for Substation control, protection and monitoring for innovative projects, ensuring standard solutions meet customer requirements and identifying possible customization of the GA GPG product.
• Design demonstrators (Proof of Concept) for qualification purpose, promotion, or within the execution of customer projects using GPG software.
• Differentiate GA offer and bring the most attractive offering to customer needs in terms of total cost of ownership, flexibility, performance, and life cycle management.
• Define engineering strategy for the design of the system architecture regarding interfaces with primary equipment, communication with IEDs and SCADA, network arrangement and setting, redundancies, and optimization of system functions.
• Audit project basic and detailed designs from regional teams on critical projects.
• Coaching and expertise development of the regional teams.
• Site investigations, lead taskforces on strategic projects.
• Cover the complete GA PAC portfolio of products and solutions: distributed and digital control system GPG, engineering and maintenance tools, cybersecurity solutions, applications of electrical network management.

Job Description Summary

L’Ingénieur Centre d’Excellence Ingénierie (COE) est responsable du processus et de la fonction globale de support après-vente au niveau GA et de l’équipe du centre d’excellence mondial au niveau PL, pour développer les meilleures pratiques en matière de support client et diriger les lignes de produits pour atteindre les objectifs stratégiques définis pour l’activité GA.

The Grid Automation Customer Support Center of Excellence (CoE) is responsible for the overall after sales support process and function at GA level and the global center of excellence team at PL level, to develop best practices on Customer Support, and lead the Product Lines to achieve strategic objectives defined for GA business.

Responsibilities (French)

• Conception de solutions de contrôle, de protection et de surveillance des postes électriques pour des projets innovants, identification de la conformité des solutions standard aux exigences clients, et identification des développements spécifiques et personnalisations possibles du produit GA GPG.
• Différencier l’offre GA et apporter l’offre la plus attractive aux besoins des clients en termes de coût total de possession, de flexibilité, de performances et de gestion du cycle de vie pour la solution GPG software.
• Définir la stratégie d’ingénierie, pour la conception de l’architecture du système concernant les interfaces avec les équipements primaires, la communication avec les IED et SCADA, la mise en réseau de communication physique et logique, les redondances de toutes les fonctionnalités critiques, l’optimisation des fonctions du système.
• Audit de la conception de base et détaillée du projet auprès des équipes régionales sur les projets critiques.
• Consolidation des bibliothèques d’applications avec des cas d’utilisation clients et des modèles de conception.
• Coaching et développement de l’expertise des équipes régionales.
• Enquêtes de chantier, animation de taskforces sur des projets stratégiques.
• Couvrir l’ensemble du portefeuille de produits et solutions GA PAC : systèmes de contrôle distribué GPG, outils d’ingénierie et de maintenance, cybersécurité, applications de gestion des réseaux électriques.
