Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking a per diem, Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient pharmacy operations under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy. Responsibilities include restocking automated dispensing systems, charging patient profiles, and ensuring compliance with DEA/DPH/state regulations.

Preferred qualifications include MA Pharmacy Technician Registration and experience with Pyxis/MediTech; hospital and sterile compounding experience are valued.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• MA Pharmacy Technician Registration Required, Certification Preferred.
• Experience with automated dispensing (Pyxis) and MediTech Information System desirable.
• Prior retail pharmacy preferred with some prior hospital.

Responsibilities

• Restocks floor stock/automated dispensing machines.
• Enters charges/credits against patient profile to ensure an accurate bill.
• Monitors medication order reports to assign medication to an automated dispensing machine.
• Delivers all medication in compliance with all DEA, DPH & State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging in accordance with all Federal USP & USP standards. Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP & USP standards. Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures, maintains cleanliness in sterile areas, and completes QA.
• Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA, OSHA & NIOSH regulations
