About Luo

Luo is building the financial infrastructure to connect Africa to the rest of the world. Our platform helps African businesses make international payments faster than ever. Luo recently raised $4 million in seed funding from top investors, including the co-founder of Monzo and leading experts in cross-border payments.

As Luo expands across multiple countries, we are building our finance foundation from the ground up, and we’re looking for a Senior Financial Controller to take the lead. This is one of the first finance roles at Luo, with the opportunity to shape the function, design processes, and build systems to support our growth.

Role Overview

We’re hiring a Head of Finance to lead the financial management of the company. In this role, you’ll be responsible for tracking the company’s performance, owning the accounting and reporting processes, helping us stay financially disciplined, and supporting both debt and equity fundraising efforts. You’ll work closely with the founders to ensure we make smart decisions backed by data and maintain full visibility on our financial trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performance Tracking & Strategy

• Build and maintain internal dashboards to monitor revenue, margin, and company-level KPIs.
• Set financial objectives and ensure teams remain accountable to targets.
• Work with founders to support strategic decision-making with clear financial insights.

2. Accounting & Internal Finance

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial administration across all entities.
• Coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors to ensure compliance.
• Implement scalable processes and internal controls for bookkeeping and reporting.

3. Liquidity Management & Fundraising

• Lead debt fundraising efforts to build and manage our liquidity float.
• Track cash flow and optimize internal treasury flows between entities and markets.
• Support equity fundraising through modeling, materials, and investor updates.

4. Investor Relations & Reporting

• Prepare monthly investor updates and ad hoc reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support board meeting preparation and investor communications.
• Maintain a high standard of transparency in financial reporting and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in financial leadership, ideally in fast-growing startups or fintech.
• Solid background in accounting, modeling, and financial planning.
• Strong ability to work with data.
• Experience managing multi-entity structures and international financial operations.
• Previous involvement in debt fundraising or treasury management is highly valued.
