Mercor is seeking a French Linguistic Expert to support AI research by ensuring high-quality French text across translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar tasks in a remote setting. You will edit, refine, or rewrite content, annotate text for linguistic features, and provide detailed feedback to help improve model performance.

This contract role suits linguists who excel in detail-oriented work and collaboration within distributed teams.

Formación

• Native or near-native French with excellent grammar and stylistics.
• Experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or French NLP data work.
• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot subtle errors.
• Clear communication and experience in distributed, remote teams.

Compensation: $50/hour

Location: Remote

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated French text across various use cases such as translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar correction.


• Edit, refine, or rewrite French content to meet linguistic and cultural standards.


• Annotate French text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features.


• Identify model errors and language gaps, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance.


• Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training efforts.


• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while enhancing AI model performance.

Qualifications

• Must-Have: Native or near-native fluency in French, with excellent command over grammar, syntax, and stylistics.


• Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in French.


• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage.


• Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot subtle errors or unnatural phrasing.


• Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed, remote teams.


• Preferred: Interest in AI and LLM-driven language technologies.
