Description du poste

Since 2015, papernest has been transforming the way people manage their contracts, making subscription, management, and switching simple through one smart, intuitive platform. We have supported more than 2 million customers across France, Spain, and Italy. Along the way, we have continued to invest in new verticals, establishing papernest as a high-performing, innovative, and competitive scale-up in a fast-growing market. With over 900 employees, we are strengthening our position as a European market leader.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will be the absolute owner of our Overheads (OPEX) tracking and headcount controlling. This role is highly operational and cost-focused (90%), with an additional layer of consolidated Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting (10%). You will act as a key business partner to central department heads, ensuring optimal resource allocation, precise financial visibility, and strict cost control across the company. Additionally, you will take on a manager—mentoring a Finance Intern who will support you in your daily missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Headcount & Payroll Costs
  • Cost Management: Partner closely with HR and executive leadership to budget, track, and forecast payroll costs across all geographies and business units.
  • Variance Analysis & Optimization: produce monthly payroll variance analysis & reports comparing actual vs. budget and propose actionable measures for budget adherence.
  • Hiring Plan Tracking: Monitor actual recruitments against the approved hiring plan. Quantify the financial impact of delayed hires, internal promotions, and turnover.
  • G&A Spend
  • Spend Management: Working hand-in-hand with department heads to budget, track, and forecast G&A expenses across all geographies and business units.
  • Variance Analysis & Optimization: produce G&A monthly variance analysis & reports comparing actual vs. budget and propose actionable measures for budget adherence.
  • Process Improvement: Design, implement, and maintain financial processes and tools to ensure control and visibility of spend while maintaining business agility.
  • Month-End Closing: Work with the Accounting team during the monthly close to ensure spend is properly allocated by function and OPEX-related accruals properly recorded.
  • P&L Analysis & Reporting (10%)
  • Consolidated Reporting: Assist in constructing P&L by business and updating monthly reporting files.
  • High-Level Analysis: Perform ad-hoc analyses on the consolidated P&L to help leadership understand broader financial trends.
About You
  • Education: Master's degree in Corporate Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of proven experience in Financial Controlling, FP&A, or Audit (Big 4), ideally with experience building budgets and managing OPEX, headcount, and centralized corporate costs. Previous experience mentoring an intern or junior team member is a plus. Please note: This is not an entry-level position; you must be comfortable managing your scope autonomously.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Spreadsheet Mastery: Advanced mastery of Excel/Google Sheets (you can build complex, error-free models for payroll and OPEX from scratch).
    • Accounting Foundations: Solid understanding of accounting principles (accruals, cut-offs) to partner effectively with the Accounting team.
    • AI & Automation: Comfortable leveraging AI tools for financial modeling, data analysis, and task automation to drive efficiency.
    • Systems & Tech Stack: Previous experience with databases (SQL), HR software (e.g., Lucca, Workday), and Finance ERPs (e.g., NetSuite) is a strong plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Autonomous & Proactive: Highly self-driven, capable of taking full ownership of your scope and delivering results with minimal supervision.
    • Structured & Analytical: You possess a highly logical mindset, capable of breaking down complex datasets into clear, actionable insights.
    • Diplomatic but Firm: You have the maturity to push back on budget overruns and respectfully challenge senior department heads on their spending.
    • Rigorous: You have a high standard for accuracy and a zero-defect mindset when it comes to reporting.
    • Leadership Mentality: Eager to share knowledge, delegate effectively, and develop junior talent.
    • Languages: Fluent English and French are mandatory to effectively communicate with our international teams and local stakeholders. Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus.
