Pelagon seeks an Acoustic Researcher to be the physics backbone of its multimodal acoustic model for autonomous maritime protection. You will ground our models in underwater acoustics, working with AI engineers to define features and datasets.

You will design sensor concepts, analyze acoustic signatures, and help deploy models at sea across distributed vectors. A PhD or equivalent research experience is required, with strong signal processing skills.

Qualifications

• Deep grounding in underwater acoustics, sonar, or related field (ocean acoustics, array processing)
• PhD or equivalent research experience
• Strong command of statistical signal processing: detection & estimation theory, array processing, time-frequency analysis
• Fluent in Python (NumPy/SciPy) for modeling, simulation and analysis; comfortable with large datasets
• A builder’s instinct: deployable at sea with validation against real data
• Bonus: ML on acoustic signals; naval/defense domain experience

Responsabilités

• Model underwater sound propagation across ocean environments for synthetic data generation
• Characterize and classify acoustic signatures of surface and underwater targets
• Design and reason about sensor and array geometries
• Collaborate with AI Engineers on physics-constrained learning strategies and models
