The Fitness Instructor works under the supervision of the Fitness Manager. The Fitness Instructor instructs members and guests on the proper use of the strength training and cardiovascular equipment. Monitors participants in fitness area activities.

Responsible for general cleanliness of the fitness area. Riverside Health System Newport News, Virginia position emphasizes safe operation of equipment, orientation for new members, attendance at staff meetings, and adherence to fitness area policies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year fitness-related experience preferred.
• AED certification required within 30 days.

Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

The Fitness Instructor works under the supervision of the Fitness Manager. The Fitness Instructor instructs members and guests on the proper use of the strength training and cardiovascular equipment. Monitors participants in fitness area activities. Responsible for general cleanliness of the fitness area.

What you will do

• Demonstrates the ability to respond positively to situations that change during the course of a day, month or year.
• Orients new members and guests to fitness area, demonstrating proper operation of cardiovascular equipment, strength training machines, and flexibility exercises.
• Attends all scheduled staff meetings, follows proper substitution procedures, arrives on time for scheduled shifts.
• Performs the required cleaning duties and enforces fitness area policies for members.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)

Experience

• 1 year Physical education or fitness training (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED) - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days (Required)
