Financial Aid Officer
Academic and Student Support Associate

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Henry/Carroll is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Officer position. This is a full-time position with paid holidays and benefits package.

FUNCTION OF THE JOB

The Financial Aid Support Associate is responsible for ensuring all financial aid processing functions are provided in a timely manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, TBR, state, and federal regulations, policies, and guidelines. This position administers state and federal aid programs, performs Pell Grant reconciliation, federal student aid verification, Return of Title IV (R2T4), and other financial aid related functions for the technical college. Travel to all campuses will be required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required, preferred degree in Business, Finance and/or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a post‑secondary institution preferred. Financial Aid experience preferred.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the public and co‑workers, strong communication skills required.
  • Must be proficient in business English, basic mathematics, and spreadsheet/database applications.
  • Must be knowledgeable of FERPA and federal, state, and institutional financial‑aid program rules, regulations, and processes.
  • Must have mature attitude, stable personality, and exercise good judgment. Position requires occasional evening hours.
Responsibilities
  • Reconcile accounts monthly.
  • Counsel students on all aspects of financial aid including federal and state financial aid programs. (Pell, TSAA, Wilder‑Naifeh Technical Skills Grant, Reconnect, TN Promise, Dual Enrollment Grants, Institutional Scholarships, etc.
  • Determine eligibility and award financial aid in accordance with Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines.
  • Interpret federal, state and college regulations and policies to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial assistance.
  • Maintaining up to date and accurate student files for students, packaging financial aid, performing federal verifications, and other activities in compliance with administering Title IV funds.
  • Serve as the Institution's School Certifying Official for Veterans Education Benefits.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as it relates to the financial information, student records, student financial aid, state and federal reports and any other information generated from the Business Office and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Henry/Carroll.
  • Working knowledge in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint), Banner, and ability to learn any state and federal financial aid systems. (Ex. EDExpress, VA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft TEAMS.
  • Participate in student orientation, campus open houses and other college events as directed.
  • Must be willing to receive training in the latest office technology and procedures and be willing to engage in staff development activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Physically, the work is sedentary, but may require the employee to walk about. Some light lifting may be required, but is largely sedentary.
