Your role

The business partner for Ground Operations (Dublin & Network Operations and Service Recovery – the “functional areas”) provides critical support to the leadership of this Aer Lingus business area (“functional management”) thereby ensuring that the company meets its obligations to its shareholders and customers. The role will report to the Manager Finance Business Partnering Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide finance business partner services to Executives & senior management in Ground Operations on an independent basis.
  • Become a trusted & critical finance business partner, in particular in relation to contract & industrial negotiations.
  • Lead the extraction of insights & conclusions from financial information & drive the operational business agenda as a partner – if needed, a counterweight to the Executive & senior management team members; propose & support development of improvement / follow‑up actions; engage with business leaders in securing implementation.
  • Take ownership of explaining, interpreting & analysing financial results relating to the Ground Operations Functions; manage strategic & tactical KPIs, provide depth & precision to KPIs & bring insights to senior team.
  • Develop KPIs, forecasts, business reviews to be structured, forward looking & commercially oriented; understand & explain performance variances (both positive & negative); work with business managers to identify remedial measures if required & develop forecasts considering underlying variance causes & corrective actions.
  • Make a meaningful impact on corporate results by working with the functional management of the Ground Operations to identify, evaluate, select & implement medium‑to‑long‑term initiatives to exploit revenue/commercial opportunities & address commercial & operational challenges; promote external benchmarking & best‑practice sharing initiatives.
  • Responsible for budget and revenue / cost elements across the Ground Operations area.
  • Take responsibility for providing transparency & insight on results and forecasted performance; propose and support development of improvement / follow‑up actions; engage with business leaders in securing implementation.
  • Coordinate monthly review process, budgeting and forecasting for the Ground Operations area.
  • Conduct ad‑hoc analyses and provide actionable insights.
  • Responsible for business planning, budgeting, monthly reviews, investment reviews in the Operations area.
Qualifications and key criteria
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience in a competitive, margin‑focused business environment.
  • Previous experience in a financial role (analyst, financial accountant, FP&A, etc.) at a publicly listed company or comparatively large private company.
  • Accustomed to operating in a complex, highly competitive and margin‑focused business environment.
  • Ability to grasp intricacies of airline business model / business drivers / processes by area.
  • Accustomed to balancing the need to focus on short‑term results while delivering on a long‑term vision that requires sustained transformation.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with managing a large team of finance professionals.
  • Excellent relationship builder with emotional intelligence.
  • Resilient and able to manage multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Confident self‑starter focused on continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to lead large improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organisational skills and willingness to delve into detail.
  • Commercial outlook with ability to identify opportunities and drive implementation.
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
  • Appetite for leveraging new technology tools to enhance output delivery.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Be in possession or be able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5‑year background check* (or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport this position is based in Dublin).
