Job description

About Alma

At Alma, we believe sustainable commerce depends on fair, well-balanced trade. Because finance plays a pivotal role in business, our mission is to put it back in its rightful place: serving merchants and consumers.

Our installment and deferred payment solutions help merchants boost sales by 20% or more, increase customer loyalty, and deliver a seamless shopping experience, without encouraging bad debt.

As the buy now pay later leader in France and active in 10 European countries, we've empowered over 25,000 merchants and 10 million consumers.

With 380+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we're just getting started!

About the team

You will join the Growth team and work closely with Revenue Operations, Account Managers, Business Analysts, Marketing, Data, and merchant technical teams. You will help Alma apply to its own website the experimentation and measurement expertise we bring to merchants.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Paris, with a hybrid working model. Professional French and English are required.

About the job

As an Experimentation & Tracking Engineer, you will own web experimentation at Alma: the A/B tests we run on merchant websites, the measurement of what happens on our own website, and its continued development following our recent redesign.

Your responsibilities will include:

Lead merchant experimentation from opportunity to readout
  • Qualify testing opportunities against technical and volume eligibility criteria, then design each test with the merchant: scenario, traffic split, pages, events, KPIs, duration, and stopping rule.
  • Implement variations and event tracking in Kameleoon, run the live phase, check data quality, and present the first results to the merchant alongside the Account Manager and Business Analysts.
Own web tracking and measurement quality
  • Define and maintain the tracking plan for Alma's website across 8 markets, implementing it through GTM, GA4, or equivalent tools.
  • Ensure reliable data flows into Salesforce, BigQuery, and Looker, while owning consent and GDPR compliance, deduplication, attribution, and reconciliation across sources.
Build and optimize almapay.com
  • Build and evolve landing pages, product pages, market pages, and local content following the website redesign.
  • Run a CRO programme on Alma's own funnels, starting with the demo request, while maintaining performance, Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, and hreflang across markets.
Scale the experimentation practice
  • Turn the existing framework, documentation, and tooling into a repeatable practice, with a target of 8 merchant tests going live over the year.
  • Share standards, learnings, and results with Growth, Revenue Operations, Data, Marketing, Sales, and Product stakeholders.
You will work with

Kameleoon, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Salesforce, BigQuery, Looker, Looker Studio, Metabase, n8n, Make, Notion, Slack, GitHub.

About you

To succeed in this job

  • You have 3 to 5 years of experience in experimentation, web analytics, CRO, or measurement-oriented web development.
  • You have hand-on experience with GTM and GA4, or equivalent tools, including consent mode, data quality, and debugging issues that can fail silently.
  • You are self-sufficient in JavaScript and HTML/CSS, including DOM manipulation, variation building, and debugging on websites you did not build and cannot fully control.
  • You understand the fundamentals of test validity, including sample size, stopping rules, and what makes an experiment result trustworthy. You are also comfortable working with clients and technical stakeholders in French and English.

And it will be nice if you also

  • Have an e-commerce or payments background, with familiarity with checkout journeys.
  • Can use SQL to pull and investigate your own data.
  • Have worked with Kameleoon, Optimizely, AB Tasty, VWO, or a similar experimentation platform.
  • Speak Spanish, Italian, or German.
What's in it for you

If you join, you will be able to grow and impact on:

  • Owning a broad, high-impact scope as Alma's internal reference for experimentation and tracking, with the autonomy to shape the practice.
  • Seeing the direct business outcomes of your work: your tests inform how Alma wins and retains merchants, and your findings are presented to real customers.
  • Working across dozens of merchant websites, 8 markets, and several CMS platforms, while being supported by a central Data team and Business Analysts for deeper analysis.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on 12 months
  • Profit-sharing and employee savings plan
  • Health insurance: 100% covered by Alma, including family package
  • Disability insurance: 100% covered by Alma
  • Sport: partnerships with Gymlib and ClassPass, or €30/month reimbursement for your sports activities
  • Maternity/paternity leave: salary maintained at 100% during leave with no seniority requirement. Return to work at a 4/5 schedule paid at 100% for 8 weeks.
  • Sustainable Mobility Package (FMD): €544.80/year, excluding full-remote contracts
  • Meal vouchers: €10/day, 50% covered by Alma
  • Mental health: free access to the MindDay platform
  • Paid time off: 25 days/year, plus additional paid leave for employees on executive contracts
  • Access to our Learning & Development Platform
  • 2 weeks of full remote possible per year in summer
Interview Process
  • Video call with a Talent Acquisition team member to understand your background and motivation, and present the role.
  • Video call with the hiring manager from Revenue Operations & Growth to discuss the role, the team, your experience, and your questions.
  • Practical case: scope an A/B test from a real merchant scenario and present your approach, including project management.
  • Cross-interviews with a Sales or Account Management stakeholder and a Business Analyst you will work with.
  • Final conversation with leadership.
Diversity & Inclusion

At Alma, we believe that diversity fuels innovation and makes our community stronger. We are committed to building a workplace where every person feels seen, respected, and empowered to do their best work whatever their gender, background, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or lived experience. As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applicants from all walks of life, and all employment decisions are made based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
