Airbus Helicopters in Marignane, France, seeks an AVIONICS Lead Flight & Ops Certification Qualification Engineer to drive harmonized certification for civil helicopter avionics across EC135, BK117, H160 and EC175 programs. You will lead certification activities, coordinate with authorities, and ensure on-time delivery while managing interfaces with Flight Test and systems engineering teams.

Your future missions

The mission of the Lead Flight & Ops Certification/Qualification Engineer is to ensure an harmonized certification approach for future avionic versions, installed on civil H/C (EC135, BK117, H160 or EC175), to demonstrate compliance of Airbus Helicopters products to the applicable airworthiness requirements, to ensure their in-service safety. This results in a challenging transverse position, including negotiation internally but also with Aviation Authorities world-wide, with great responsibilities, and a good overview on our products, on our systems and on our organization.

Within the Airworthiness Office, the Initial Airworthiness Department is responsible for leading the Certification and Qualification activities necessary to meet the development and deliveries milestones of the different programs.

• The initial Certification of our products,
• The Certification of further steps (domain extension, new variant, ...), and of Post-TC (after TC) design changes (including Technical Publications),
• The serial and prototype helicopters 'Permit to Fly',
• The initial as well as design change Foreign validation,
• The management of schedule and priorities for all these certification activities,
• The support to deliveries,
• The support to offer.

Task & accountabilities

Project Management

• Planning and piloting of Avionics Certification activities and reviews
• Risk identification and mitigation
• Managing priorities internally,
• Follow-up and reporting on compliance demonstration activities progress, fixing hard points, and ensuring on time completion of the activities,
• Ensuring interface with change board management process.

Certification approach harmonization

• Promote and implement an harmonized compliance demonstration for CS Subpart B&G requirements: Ensure liaison with the Flight Test department.
• Promote and implement an harmonized compliance demonstration for avionic equipment obsolescence management for CS Subpart F: Ensure liaison with Transverse Project team.
• Avionics Post-Certification Item (CAIs) initial airworthiness focal point: Ensure liaison, follow-up and on-time commitment between Primary Certification authority and Design Office, Flight Test department.

Certification activities

• Contributing to Avionics certifications:
• Identification and definition of the applicable Certification basis (airworthiness and OSD) and CRI,
• Definition of Certification logic, establishing corresponding Certification Program, with relevant support from the Airworthiness experts,
• Validating compliance demonstrations proposed by the design office
• Contributing to the helicopter level certification activities: consolidating the results of the compliance demonstration and declaring compliance at helicopter level to support their delivery,
• Contributing to 1 or several Helionix certification steps for a program (EC135, BK117, H160 or EC175) as needed depending on the different on-going certification steps.
• Contributing to UMBRELLA initial certification:
• Review the main system plan
• Initiate discussions with EASA based on main architecture & functions (high level) and prepare Certification Plan.
• Framing of System Engineering with EASA Panel 10
• Organize System Review and Technical Familiarization
• Preparation of the Permit to Fly
• Review, closure of certification docs

This role will involve some travel for business in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

• At least 3 years of overall Engineering experience
• At least 3 years of experience in avionics certification and/or in Software (DO178-B, DO254) and/or System Engineering (ARP4754, DO297)
• Experienced in project management would be a plus.
• Knowledge of airworthiness would be a plus.
