Job summary

Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. seeks an experienced early childhood educator to supervise, care for, and educate a classroom of children, planning developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Head Start outcomes.

You will implement inclusive learning experiences across language, literacy, math, science, and social-emotional development while maintaining family partnerships and ensuring health and safety. Requires multiple credentials and a strong commitment to child development.

Qualifications

• Early Head Start: CDA credential and work towards an Associate’s degree with an Early Childhood Certification.
• Head Start: Associate degree in Early Childhood or Child Development or higher with relevant credits.
• Head Start: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Child Development.
• UPK/Head Start: Bachelor’s with NYS Pre-K certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, care and educate a classroom of children with developmentally appropriate plans.
• Implement learning experiences across language, literacy, math, science, and social studies.
• Plan activities to foster self-reliance, social responsibility and family engagement.
• Maintain organized learning environments and daily schedules with opportunities for choice.
• Communicate regularly with parents about routines and child progress.
• Ensure health and safety, supervise staff and volunteers, and manage classroom records.
