The position

The Aga Khan Academy Dhaka is the fourth in the network of the Aga Khan Academies established by His Highness the Aga Khan. The Academyfeatures state‑of‑the‑art facilities, a multicultural student body and an experienced team of educators and staff. The Dean of Athletics is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all athletic programs and extracurricular activities across the Academy. This role ensures that sports programs align with the IB philosophy, promoting holistic development, intercultural understanding, and Learner Profile attributes such as being balanced, principled, leaders and stewards.

Main responsibilities :
Program Leadership & Development
  • Provide strategic leadership for all athletic and activities programs.
  • Create and organize programs that maximise participation and provide a broad range of opportunities for students.
  • Ensure programs align with the school's mission, vision, and the learner profile.
  • Promote balance and well‑being in line with IB philosophy.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote sportsmanship and a positive environment.
Staff Management
  • Recruit, train, and supervise coaches and athletics staff.
  • Provide professional development on inclusive practices and IB values.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture among staff.
Student Engagement & Well‑being
  • Foster a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
  • Monitor student participation and ensure equitable access to sports programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, particularly regarding the balance between academics and athletics.
  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection policies are fully implemented.
Operations & Compliance
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for all athletic and PE programs.
  • Oversee logistical aspects like scheduling, facility maintenance, and equipment inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, IB standards, and all relevant international, national, and league regulations.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Build partnerships with local and international schools for tournaments and events.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff about athletic events and expectations.
  • Ensure excellent handling of logistics related to student trips such as transportation, accommodation, and compliance details.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher of PHE on programs, resources and facility usage.
The requirements
SPECIFICATIONS (Candidate profile) :

Education :
  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field
Experience :
  • Minimum 7 years in athletics administration, preferably in an IB or international school setting.
  • Experience in coaching, teaching, or administration.
Skills :
