Job summary

Mistral AI is building the backbone of its frontier-model training and fine-tuning ecosystem. This Data Infrastructure role focuses on scalable compute fleets, distributed storage, and secure data access for MLOps and research, across on-prem and cloud-native Kubernetes environments.

You will own migrations from legacy schedulers, implement production pipelines, and participate in on-call rotations for critical training jobs, with a hybrid/remote work option in EU/UK.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Data Infrastructure, MLOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Experience with foundational compute and storage platforms.
• Proficiency in Python and data lake/storage standards.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-native tooling and multi-cluster debugging.
• Ability to build scalable, reliable, and secure systems from scratch.
• Comfort with ambiguity in a rapid-growth AI environment.

Responsibilities

• Build & Scale: operate massive distributed compute and storage systems.
• Global Orchestration: manage multi-cluster orchestration across regions.
• Design Future-Proof Storage: transition to modern storage formats for exabyte-scale datasets.
• Platform Engineering: develop internal training platform for Kubernetes and SLURM environments.
• Metadata & Lineage: provide clear visibility and data/model lineage as pipelines grow.
• Operational Excellence: ensure cloud-native deployments scale reliably and efficiently.
