The Valley Health System is seeking a CT Technologist to operate our CT scanner under physician orders. You will prepare patients, verify identities, select scans from the worklist, and ensure studies are archived in PACS and RIS. You will maintain equipment and stay current with CT procedures.

Required is completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program with ARRT CT registration, and NJ DEP license. Excellent communication and the ability to work under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

  • Completion from an accredited Radiology Technology program and ARRT CT registration.
  • One year of practical experience preferred as a staff radiologic technologist; CT experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association; BLS certification required.
  • Current license from the State of NJ DEP for radiologic technology and CT.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to work under pressure in stressful settings.

Position Summary

Reporting to and functioning under the general supervision of the Supervisor, the CT Technologist prepares for and operates a CT Scanner following specific physician orders. Produces detailed computer-generated scans of patients for diagnostic and interventional information. Assists patients onto scanner, verifies patient identification prior to scan, selects patient from worklist, ensures exam is archived on the PACS and completed properly in the RIS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all new CT procedures.

Shift

Shift: Saturday, 10 hours, 7a-530p, 1 holiday per year

Education

Completion from an accredited Radiology Technology program and registered by the ARRT in CT. Existing employees must obtain advanced CT Certification within one (1) year of employment.

Experience

One year of practical experience preferred as a staff radiologic technologist. CT experience preferred.

Skills

Registered in Radiologic Technology with advanced CT certification from the ARRT and a current and valid license from the State of NJ DEP. Current CPR certification thru the American Heart Association. BLS certification required. Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment and ability to perform a variety of CT exams on patients. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately with attention to detail, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function independently and competently in stressful situations. Responds positively to changes in the work environment and has ability to work well in various settings, adjusting according to patient needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve.

Pay Range: $47.80 - $59.75 (per hour)
