Description du poste

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!

We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.

Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!

As Control Electronics and RF Instrumentation engineer and part of the Control Electronics and Characterization Team, you will be in charge of selecting, designing, assembling, operating, maintaining and testing cutting-edge instrumentation systems, that are central to our quantum processors. You will also support the characterization of hardware components, the goal of the team being to deliver a full working HW solution to other teams focusing on testing qbits, by ensuring that their test environment is stable enough for their experiments.

Your expertise in RF systems and designs will directly contribute to our culture of technical excellence and innovation, shaping the future of quantum computing. With the help of the team, you will be in charge of integrating and optimizing a range of electronic instruments—including RF and DC sources—to ensure perfect control of our quantum processors.

Responsibilities:
  • Testing & Validation: Operate the existing drive electronics systems including monitoring, performance checks and software updates.
  • Adapt existing systems to new quantum chip designs
  • Develop and implement V&Vs plans, mostly in Python and using equipment such as VNAs, fast oscilloscopes, SMUs, signal generators…
  • Analyze and comment your results
  • Ensure all systems meet Alice & Bob’s rigorous standards for accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to the instrumentation and control electronics, ensuring continuous operation within our quantum processor.
  • Stock management
  • Assist in stock management for all parts needed in the implementation of the racks and characterization benches
  • Align with purchasing team to place orders to maintain and develop the stock of equipment
  • Organize and manage shipments with distributors and partners
  • Design & Development: Design and integrate electronics systems for future quantum computing set-ups. This includes the integration of microwave, RF, and DC electronics.
  • Up-grade the existing systems to evolving requirements, including spectral purity, pulse shape and power stability
  • Continuous Improvement: Technology watch on state of the art instrumentation for quantum control electronics
  • Evaluate and choose equipment among existing commercial solutions
  • Propose and organize test plans / test benches to evaluate new equipment and features
  • Drive ongoing improvements of the control electronics design and performance, keeping up with the latest technological progress.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams & partners: Work closely with other engineering teams, including your teammate, Quantum Hardware Infra colleagues, physicists and software engineers, to ensure the seamless alignment of hardware and software in our quantum processors.
  • Interact with our internal purchasers to order equipment
  • Interact with suppliers & partners on a technical level
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all design processes, test results, and system configurations are thoroughly documented. Provide regular updates and reports to the team on your projects progress and timelines.
Requirements:
  • Master or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF characterization/measurement and control electronics
  • Experience with test benches and measurement systems; such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, VNAs, Power Meters, Signal Generators
  • Test & Test procedure definition; V&V plan
  • Experienced in Python programming and remote control of instruments (SCPI for example)
  • Professional English
  • Nice to have: Experience with Cryogenic, Quantum, FPGAs, Professional French
Benefits:
  • 25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTT
  • Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for the die-hard bicycle users
  • Competitive health benefits with Helium/Axa
  • Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped kitchen
  • Parental benefits with crèche support
  • Flexible remote policy, up to 40 % a month
  • Language courses covered by the company
  • Mental health support with moka.care
  • Subsidized membership with Urban Sports Club
Recruitment Process:
  • Screening Call with Giusy, Talent Acquisition Specialist (30 min)
  • Hiring Manager Interview with the HM (45 min)
