Job summary

UNEP is seeking a remote consultant to support the Coordination Desk of the One Planet Network Consumer Information Programme and the Environmental Alliance of the Americas. You will help enhance sustainability information sharing and empower consumers to make informed choices, contributing to SDG 12 through circular economy initiatives.

The role involves coordinating programme planning, updating content, stakeholder engagement, and producing analyses to support product selection and reporting

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) tools.
• At least 2 years of experience in ecolabelling.
• 2+ years of international working experience.
• Experience in Latin America and the Caribbean is necessary.
• Experience with UNEP or the UN system is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and delivery of the Consumer Information Programme, aligning strategy with the 10YFP Global Strategy for SCP.
• Update website content and convene/support Programme meetings.
• Ensure active involvement of stakeholders and partners, fostering cooperation with other 10YFP/OPN initiatives.
• Communicate Programme activities and results through newsletters, websites, and social media.
• Contribute research, analysis, and technical inputs to product selection and sustainability criteria development.
• Support engagement with businesses and industry associations, and assist with knowledge management and reporting for Alliance activities.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority, promoting sustainable development. The Economy and Industry Division addresses environmental issues and fosters partnerships. This role supports the One Planet Network Consumer Information Programme and the Environmental Alliance of the Americas, a regional initiative for Latin American countries.

Job Purpose

This consultancy role supports the Coordination Desk of the One Planet Network Consumer Information Programme and the Environmental Alliance of the Americas. The purpose is to enhance sustainability and circularity information sharing, empowering consumers to make informed decisions. The role contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 12 by accelerating the shift towards sustainable consumption and production worldwide, working with diverse stakeholders to drive long-term economic and social transformations.
