King County District Court Profile
KCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology- and judge-managed probation services. Thirteen cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.
Position Summary
King County District Court has a vacancy for a Community Court Coordinator based at the Redmond Courthouse. This role serves as the lead planner responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Community Court services conducted at the District Court in Redmond, WA, and may be required to assist at other locations as needed. The Community Court Coordinator will be expected to become acquainted with agency, County, State, and court policies, procedures, and regulations. The successful candidate must be able to effectively partner with community stakeholders to promote District Court and Community Court.
Responsibilities
- Serve on multiple planning work groups.
- Identify and coordinate social service agencies to participate in community court resource center.
- Coordinate with treatment providers on community court participants.
- Coordinate with non-profit agencies to connect court participants with community service opportunities.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve with respect to the court's daily activities and operations. Coordinate with facilities in which court is held.
- Coordinate service and treatment need assessments for defendants and other court populations.
- Coordinate screening intake services and complete exit interviews.
- Promote, develop, and maintain relationships with residents, schools, police, government, not-for-profit agencies, and community organizations.
- Maintain accurate data about the program and its participants for formal reporting to various agencies, and for presentations for stakeholders and interested parties.
- Work with judge and project staff to develop both new policies and procedures, and new social services sanctions and responses.
- Coordinate community outreach efforts.
- Recruit and manage a team of volunteers for community court.
- Speak/present to individuals, agencies and groups about community court.
- Assist Therapeutic Court Manager and other staff with the planning and implementation of new CCRCs.
- Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
- Five years court program management experience including experience with social/human services programs OR an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities of the job.
- Ability to clearly organize and present ideas, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
- Ability to stay focused and calm in a busy environment.
- Ability to work with vulnerable populations effectively.
- Knowledge of problem-solving court models and case-management approaches.
- Knowledge of local city and county agencies and community-based organizations that provide social services.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships external partners as well as with judges and staff.
- Ability to effectively work with people with differing cultural, ethnic, and lifestyle backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to plan events and manage programs.
- Ability to identify needs, develop plans and evaluate results.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to compile data and prepare reports.
- Knowledge of principles of administration,planning,supervision, and organization.
- Ability to plan,direct, and coordinate work.
- Ability to maintain regular,consistent, and predictable attendance.

- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and move and/or lift up to 10 pounds. The vision abilities required to perform this position include close vision.
- Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
