Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking an Infrastructure & Cloud Security Lead for a remote, Europe-wide engagement. The role focuses on owning an AWS cloud platform, core infrastructure, developer environments, CI/CD pipelines, and observability while managing security, IAM, and cost controls.

The engagement is freelance, part-time (~20 hours/week) with CET afternoon overlap for US teams. Contract length is 3 months with potential extension; 100% remote work offered to specialists in cloud and security

Qualifications

• Senior SRE or Cloud Engineer background with strong hands-on AWS experience.
• Hands-on experience with API gateways.
• Administration of enterprise SaaS tools and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own growing AWS cloud platform and core infrastructure.
• Maintain/deploy CI/CD pipelines and observability stack.
• Manage cloud security, access control and networking.
• Oversee cloud cost management as service volume scales.
• Overlap with US-based colleagues during CET afternoons.

Infrastructure & Cloud Security Lead (DRWN)

Job title – Infrastructure & Cloud Security Lead

Client Location – Remote, Europe (team based in US time zones)

Remote work offering – 100%

Client Industry – Technology (SaaS / AI)

Contract Length – 3 months (extendable), ongoing part-time engagement

Contract type – Freelance, part-time (approx. 20 hours per week, with overlap into CET afternoons)

Project focus

You will take ownership of a growing AWS cloud platform, looking after the core infrastructure, developer deployment environments, CI/CD pipelines and observability stack. Alongside this you will be responsible for cloud security, access control and networking, administration of enterprise SaaS tooling, and keeping cloud spend under control as service volume scales.

Key skills and Experience required

• Senior SRE or Cloud Engineer background with strong hands-on AWS experience
• Running Kubernetes in production, ideally on EKS
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Monitoring and observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana or Datadog
• AWS security fundamentals: IAM, secrets management and secure networking
• Hands-on experience with API gateways
• Administration of enterprise SaaS tools and integrations (e.g. Google Workspace, HR platforms)
• FinOps and cloud cost management
• Able to work afternoon CET hours to overlap with US-based colleagues
• Nice to have: compliance knowledge such as NIS2, and exposure to agentic or LLM evaluation tooling (LiteLLM, Langfuse, MCP)
