IXO is seeking experts to design and evaluate chemical-safety prompts and scenarios. You will test AI models for boundary conditions, explain acceptable vs unsafe responses, and document judgments with supporting evidence.

Remote assignments with flexible weekly hours; compensation is $70-$80 per task in USD. Applicants bring hands-on chemical specialty experience across at least one route (forensic, industrial hygiene, analytical, synthetic, or chemical defense) and a track record of defensible

Qualifications

• Hands-on professional responsibility in at least one chemical specialty.
• Forensic/toxicology route: laboratory casework, toxicological interpretation, defensible reporting or expert testimony.
• Industrial hygiene/process-safety route: exposure controls, sampling, ventilation or PPE, HAZOP/LOPA and change management, dispersion/consequence assessment using AEGL/ERPG criteria, or PSM/Seveso/COMAH/OSHA practice.
• Analytical route: hazardous-compound identification with techniques such as NMR, IR, GC-MS or LC-MS/MS; trace-method validation, reference libraries, QA/QC or accredited-laboratory practice.
• Synthetic/process route: practical route development, reaction kinetics, impurity control and scale-up with safety review; regulated/GMP chemistry and precursor-control experience are relevant.
• Chemical-defense route: institutional work on detection, protection, decontamination, medical countermeasures, exposure consequences or Chemical Weapons Convention verification/destruction.

IXO is engaging specialists to evaluate chemical-safety judgments that require specialist professional knowledge. Your contribution is technical work: make the reasoning inspectable, identify substantive errors and provide evidence that supports a reliable assessment.

Work you will do

• Design authorized adversarial prompts that test whether AI keeps an appropriate safety boundary, and explain why each response is acceptable or unsafe within the supplied professional context.
• Develop and assess safety-oriented scenarios within the chemical specialty for which you are qualified.
• Evaluate whether model responses recognize hazardous assumptions, use evidence appropriately and respect the limits of a defensible answer.
• Write reference judgments and grading criteria, documenting the reason for each safety-relevant finding.

Required background and routes

• Bring hands-on professional responsibility in at least one chemical specialty; these are alternative routes, not five credentials required of every applicant.
• Forensic/toxicology route: laboratory casework, seized substances or precursor analysis, toxicological interpretation, defensible reporting or expert testimony.
• Industrial hygiene/process-safety route: exposure controls, sampling, ventilation or PPE, HAZOP/LOPA and change management, dispersion/consequence assessment using AEGL or ERPG criteria, or PSM/Seveso/COMAH/OSHA practice.

Preferred background

Previous authorized AI safety testing or model evaluation. CIH or equivalent credentials strengthen the hygiene route where applicable.

Deliverables

Submit the completed technical artifact or assessment with its supporting evidence, explicit assumptions, reproducible checks where applicable, and concise reasons for each material judgment. Address review findings within the agreed scope.

Location and schedule

Remote assignments are scheduled by agreement, with no guaranteed weekly volume. Availability planning can include 40 hours per week depending on the track. IXO confirms the applicable timing before work.

Pay and working terms

$70 - $80/task USD. Payment is for a completed task that meets the agreed acceptance criteria. The fee, task specification and revision requirements are agreed before work; an advertised time estimate does not determine payment. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.
