A global energy company is seeking a Business Controller based in Paris. The successful candidate will monitor daily P&L and cash flows, ensuring compliance with accounting principles. A Master's degree in Finance or Economics and at least 5 years of professional experience are required. Context

The France BtC Finance division is hiring a Business Controller who will work on the perimeter covering the Group's BtC supply activities in France.

The Finance and Operations (FinOps) team has the responsibility to monitor the P&L of the Energy Management and Supply team (EMS) and ensure correct reporting (IFRS and local GAAP) of its results.

The EMS Team's role is to guarantee the physical sourcing in gas, electricity and green certificates of ENGIE's supply entity France BtC.

Supply Activities Covered
  • Sourcing of gas and electricity quantities to be supplied to BtC customers
  • Hedging of volume and price risks embedded in ENGIE's customer portfolio
  • Purchase and reinvoice of gas and power transport capacities to the supply entities
  • Purchase of certificates (Guaranty of Origin, Guaranty of Capacity, ETS2, CEE…) for the supply entities
The role of the Controller is twofold
  • Middle‑Officer: focused on the daily monitoring of P&L and Cash Flows generated by the Front Office
  • Business Controller: focused on the monthly financial closures, budget exercises, balance sheet control and internal control
Role

You will be involved in the P&L monitoring of the EMS France BtC:

  • Follow and validate on a daily basis the economic P&L with the Front‑Office, report and explain the variations observed
  • Have recurrent exchanges with Front‑Office teams to ensure a sound understanding of portfolio structures, modelised assets and hedging strategies
  • Ensure that the reported results are compliant with accounting principles
  • Support the deals' management throughout their lifecycle: discuss deal validation rules, follow invoicing issues in collaboration with the Back‑Office
Monthly closing of accounts
  • Control the accounting entries in SAP
  • Control the consistency between the economic P&L and the accounting P&L: building of eco‑accounting bridge and investigation of unexplained deltas
Preparation of Monthly Dashboards and Business Reviews
  • Support the preparation of accurate information and business reporting
  • Analyse YTD results and Best Estimates through several Key Financial Indicators (Gross Margin, Cash Flows, WCR) with the contribution of the Front‑Office

Mid‑term planning: validation and valuation of business assumptions with supply entities and Front‑Office teams.

Digitalisation and change management: express business needs, test and provide feedback to IS teams on the softwares developed to support our processes.

The position is located in Paris.
