John Paul is seeking motivated interns or work-study students to join our backend development team in Paris. You will contribute to Python/Django backend services, learn AWS Lambda (via AWS SAM), and engage in CI/CD, monitoring, and observability tasks under mentor guidance.

You will progressively explore containerized infra (Docker, Kubernetes), and participate in code reviews and team discussions to grow technically in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s student in CS/Software Engineering or equivalent engineering school.
• Ability to code, ideally with knowledge of Python.
• Proficiency in SQL and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, OpenSearch).
• Solid understanding of web/API concepts (HTTP requests, REST, security, etc.).
• Keen interest in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
• Be meticulous, inquisitive and eager to learn.
• Strong team spirit and good communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Actively participate in team life (code reviews, progress syncs, technical documentation).

As an intern or work-study student, you will join the development team responsible for our backend services, developed mainly in Python/Django and deployed on AWS. Your mission will be to progressively contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvement of our applications, mentored by senior developers. You will also discover infrastructure, CI/CD, and monitoring practices that are an integral part of our daily technical work.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate to develop and maintain backend applications in Python/Django under the supervision of senior developers.
• Participate in the development and deployment of AWS Lambda serverless functions (via AWS SAM).
• Familiarize yourself with associated AWS services (API Gateway, CloudWatch).
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines (GitLab CI/CD).
• Participate in architectural decisions for new projects as well as the improvement of service monitoring and observability (Loki, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Progressively discover containerized infrastructure topics (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Actively participate in team life (code reviews, progress syncs, technical documentation).

Requirements

• Master’s student (Bac+4 / Bac+5) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent engineering school degree.
• Ability to code, ideally with knowledge of Python.
• Proficiency in SQL and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, OpenSearch).
• Solid understanding of web/API concepts (HTTP requests, REST, security, etc.).
• Keen interest in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
• Be meticulous, inquisitive and eager to learn.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of or strong interest in Django framework.
• Basic familiarity with infrastructure tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• A basic understanding of CI/CD concepts (GitLab CI or equivalent).
• Sensitivity to application monitoring/supervision challenges.
• An interest in serverless architectures
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum).
• The ability to participate in meetings in English
