Evotec WD in Toulouse is seeking a lab automation specialist to drive digitalization across Process & Product Development, from concept to implementation, with a focus on AI/ML opportunities and integration between instruments, databases and enterprise apps.

You will collaborate with global IT, ensure data governance, and coach scientists while aligning with Sandoz Digital and Operational Excellence strategies; a background in automation, programming and data analytics is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Master’s degree in engineering, biology, biotechnology, automation, robotics or related field.
• Ideally 5 years of experience in a similar automation/lab role.
• Professional English level required for international collaboration.

What You'll Do

• Drive automation and digitalization initiatives supporting Process & Product Development activities from proof-of-concept through implementation.
• Identify opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and advanced analytics to optimize laboratory operations and experimental workflows.
• Drive the standardization of laboratory automation platforms, data structures and connectivity across systems.
• Develop scalable solutions enabling seamless integration between laboratory instruments, robotics platforms, databases and enterprise applications.
• Support cybersecurity and data governance requirements for laboratory automation systems in collaboration with global IT teams.
• Manage automation-related projects, including planning, budgeting, vendor coordination, risk assessment and technical implementation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to increase laboratory productivity, reliability and compliance.
• Provide technical coaching and training to laboratory scientists and users of automation platforms.
• Contribute to the development of a smart connected laboratory ecosystem aligned with Sandoz Digital and Operational Excellence strategies.

Who You Are

• Engineering or Master's degree in engineering, biology, biotechnology, automation, robotics or a related field.
• Ideally, you have 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• A professional level of English is required to work effectively within this international team (meetings, technical documentation, etc.).
• Able to interpret experimental needs and translate them into automation specifications.
• Background with popular programming languages (e.g. Python, C++).
• Knowledge of data visualization and analytics tools (e.g. JMP, Power BI or similar).
• Understanding of Instrumentation and Control systems including sensors, PLCs, communication protocols, and supervisory systems.
• Experience with laboratory information systems (LIMS), scientific data platforms, or digital laboratory transformation projects is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of data integrity principles (ALCOA+) and regulated laboratory environments is considered a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with version control systems, issue-tracking tools and software lifecycle management practices is desirable.
• Experience connecting laboratory instruments, databases and analytical software platforms is an advantage.
• Positive with good service motivation.
• Able to work in an active, collaborative, constructive and respectful manner with all colleagues within and across departments.
• Demonstrated ability to work with flexibility in a changing and demanding environment.
