Job summary

We are currently supporting an automotive manufacturing project in Rouen, Normandy, and are looking for an experienced Siemens Automation Engineer to join the project on an immediate-start basis.

The role is suited to an engineer with strong hands-on experience in Siemens PLC programming, commissioning and industrial automation, ideally with experience working in automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Siemens automation and PLC engineering.
• Proven commissioning and troubleshooting experience on Siemens PLCs.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial networks (PROFINET/PROFIBUS).
• Knowledge of S7-300/400/1200/1500, TIA Portal and STEP 7.
• Ability to work independently on-site and support production ramp-up.
• Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is a plus.
• French-speaking capable for on-site collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and troubleshoot Siemens PLC programmes.
• Work with S7-300/400/1200/1500 systems and TIA Portal and/or STEP 7.
• Carry out on-site commissioning, testing and troubleshooting.
• Support machine and production-line start-up activities.
• Configure and troubleshoot HMI/SCADA systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across PLC, HMI, drives and networks.
• Work with PROFINET/PROFIBUS and industrial communication networks.
• Support safety-related automation systems and collaborate with engineering teams.
• Provide technical support throughout commissioning and ramp-up.

The role is suited to an engineer with strong hands-on experience in Siemens PLC programming, commissioning and industrial automation, ideally with experience working in automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and troubleshoot Siemens PLC programmes
• Work with S7-300 / S7-400 / S7-1200 / S7-1500 systems
• Programming and diagnostics using TIA Portal and/or STEP 7
• Carry out on-site commissioning, testing and troubleshooting
• Support machine and production-line start-up activities
• Configure and troubleshoot HMI / SCADA systems
• Work with Galileo
• Diagnose and resolve issues across PLC, HMI, drives and industrial networks
• Work with industrial communication networks including PROFINET / PROFIBUS
• Support functional and safety-related automation systems
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and controls engineering teams
• Provide technical support throughout commissioning and production ramp-up

Required Experience

• Strong professional experience in Siemens automation / PLC engineering
• Hands-on experience with S7 PLCs
• Experience with TIA Portal and/or STEP 7
• Proven commissioning and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with HMI / SCADA
• Experience with Galileo
• Knowledge of industrial networks such as PROFINET and/or PROFIBUS
• Experience with drives / variable speed drives
• Understanding of industrial automation safety systems
• Ability to work independently on-site and resolve technical issues effectively
• Previous experience within the automotive industry
• Experience with production lines, machinery or manufacturing automation
• Experience with Siemens safety systems
• Experience with FAT/SAT and production start-up
• French-speaking
