Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel West Europe to provide cross-regional internal legal support focused on France within the EMEA legal team.

In this role you will draft and negotiate agreements, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and partner with France leadership to implement processes and risk controls. This position offers exposure across multiple countries with strong collaboration required, and fluent English and French are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified and admitted as a lawyer in France.
• Proven experience of >10 years in-house or in international law firm handling general commercial/transactional work, preferably in life sciences, pharma, biotech.

Responsabilités

• Advise, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements (sales, collaboration, IT, licensing, procurement, MSAs).
• Ensure compliance with laws and internal policies.
• Assist with settlements and disputes.
• Provide healthcare compliance guidance.
• Partner across functions on competition law, regulatory, data privacy and IP topics.
• Contribute to harmonization and digitization strategies.
• Educate and train employees on templates, laws and processes.
• Mentor junior staff in contract reviews and negotiations.
• Be the main legal representative on France leadership teams.

Job Overview

As Associate Corporate Counsel West Europe, you will play a key role in our EMEA legal team. You will provide cross-regional internal legal support, with a focus on France. There will also be opportunities to expand the reach of this role to other EMEA countries based on the team's needs. The Associate Corporate Counsel will also be expected to provide strategic input to all France businesses, assessing their needs and putting in place appropriate processes and procedures to ensure they are receiving the legal support they require. The Associate Corporate Counsel will therefore be required to have considerable skills in risk assessment and process improvement and be able to work with senior leadership to achieve these goals.

Key responsibilities

• Advice, draft, negotiate various types of agreements (sales agreements, collaboration agreements, IT agreements, co-marketing agreements, license agreements, procurement agreements, MSAs, etc)
• Ensure compliance with laws (including MedTech Europe and French anti-gift and sunshine laws), policies and processes
• Assist with settlements and dispute resolution matters
• Provide legal advice on matters including healthcare compliance
• Act as a cross-functional partner on competition law, regulatory, data privacy and intellectual property topics
• Contribute to the team's harmonization and digitization strategies
• Align with leadership on priorities and goals
• Educate and train employees regarding templates, laws, processes and procedures, etc
• Mentor more junior employees in carrying out contract reviews, negotiations and amendments
• Be the main legal representative on France leadership teams, including the Country Commercial Leadership team for France as required

Requirements

• Qualified and admitted as a lawyer in France
• Proven experience of more than 10 years in-house (or in international law firm) in general commercial/transactional legal work (in life science, pharma, biotech industry an advantage)
• Strong experience in the key responsibilities described above
• Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills
• Strong commercial awareness and business sense (including the ability to influence business teams)
• Ability to develop processes, to find pragmatic solutions to problems and to prioritize work
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work in a matrixed, fast paced and changing environment
• Possess flexibility and ability to think laterally
• Fluent in English and French

Location

This position can be based in Villebon-sur-Yvette or remote in France.
