A leading aerospace firm is seeking a Mission Operations Manager in Toulouse to define and implement satellite operations and 5G Non-Terrestrial-Network capabilities. The role includes coordinating technical integrations and supporting satellite constellation operations. Job Description

Airbus UpNext is looking for a Mission Operations Manager to support the definition and implementation of 5G Non-Terrestrial-Network capabilities based on space platforms.


Our objective is to explore many new technologies and to support the strategic ambitions of Airbus. As such, be prepared for a wild ride, digging into unconventional ways of working, and be ready for many pivots throughout, as we will explore the unknown.


As Mission Operations Manager, you are responsible for the definition of satellite and mission operations and associated activities (LEOP, routine, payload operations). You will interface with Airbus Constellations Satellites and a satellite operator partner to synchronize software deliveries and deployment activities. You will also support the operations of the satellite constellation and 5G NTN services demonstrations (payload operations).


This position is based in Toulouse (Labège), comes with a limited contract (CDI-C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated date end of June 2028)

Missions

Passionate and impatient about writing code and satellite communication systems, testing hypotheses and bringing learning into the business based on concrete demonstrations, you are the type of person who thinks about “how things can be done” rather than “if they can be done”.


By being the Mission Operations Manager, you will:



  • Contribute to the definition of satellite product deliveries needed to support operations

  • Design and Implement the on-board Mission SW changes and associated deployment procedures to support the satellite operator's launch strategy and operational needs.

  • Coordinate the technical integration of Mission SW updates and operations tools between ACS, UpNext, and the satellite operator partner.

  • Support End-to-End system design by providing detailed technical specifications and implementing the CONOPS (Concept of Operations) via software, focusing on automation and efficiency.

  • Contribute to satellite AIT phase on operations activities

  • Provide hands‑on software support for LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase) and IOT (In‑Orbit Test) at the satellite operator facility.

  • Implement and integrate the In‑Flight Satellite Support software solution within the consortium environment.
