Could you be the Acoustic & Vibration Engineer we are looking for ?

Our team is located at the Alstom headquarters in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine. As part of Systems & Infrastructure offers and projects, acoustic and vibration impact studies are required in order to comply with the standards, regulations and contractual requirements related to the noise and vibration levels generated by a railway system.

Within the transversal expertise team (Turnkey Platform), the objectives of the Acoustic & Vibration Engineer are to:

  • Perform and supervise Noise & Vibration impact studies
  • Organize and supervise Noise & Vibration and Track performance measurements
  • Deliver to the Track team the design of attenuating track

In parallel to projects, the engineer will work on internal R&D activities dealing with rolling noise on slab track.

We will look to you to:

  • Analyze N&V requirements in tenders
  • Define N&V activities to be performed at the Project phase
  • Identify technical/project risks for N&V discipline and assess associated financial provisions and/or propose preliminary design mitigations
  • Estimate costs for N&V activities in Project phase
  • Support track designers in implementing noise or vibration mitigation solutions
  • Define & perform on-site testing by coordinating with T&C and operation management teams
  • Manage N&V subcontractors (consultants, laboratories) by specifying the job, selecting them, supervising their work, controlling invoices, etc.
  • Work with mitigation solution suppliers
  • Produce the System and Infra N&V deliverables
  • Assure a high-quality level of the N&V technical documentation
  • For R&D activities:
    • Review the state of the art
    • Define and organize necessary tests on mock-ups or real tracks
    • Define suitable simulation methodologies
    • Draw-up engineering instructions

  • Master'sdegree in Engineering
  • Specialization in Mechanics or Acoustic and Vibration engineering
  • At least 3 years of experiencein vibro-acoustic engineering, environmental acoustics (ideally in the railway environment) with a significant experience inmonitoring and coordinating studies and subcontractors
  • Good Experience in customer and supplier relationships
  • Skills in vibration and acoustic calculation/simulation and measurements (Knowledge of data acquisition systems such as B&K or 01dB)
  • Mastery of environmental acoustic simulation tools (Cadnaa)
  • Knowledge of GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro)
  • Knowledge of standards related to noise & vibration environmental impact studies and railway systems (ISO 2631, ISO 14837, DIN 4150, FTA etc.).
  • Mastery of Matlab or Python would be appreciated
  • Fluent in English and a good level in French
  • Availabilities to travel worldwide
