The International School of Helsinki seeks a Wellbeing and First Aid Caregiver to support the health needs of students aged 4 to 18. This full-time position emphasizes a caring and proactive approach to wellness. The caregiver will work closely with staff to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, contributing to the social and emotional wellbeing of the student body.
The International School of Helsinki (ISH) is a vibrant, inclusive, and non-profit learning
community offering education to students aged 4 to 18 through the International
Baccalaureate (IB) continuum. Located in Finlands capital, ISH fosters a global mindset and
prepares students for the complexities of the modern world. Our community includes over
100 staff members and approximately 500 students representing diverse cultures and
nationalities.
Are you a dedicated caregiver of children, with qualifications and experience in administering First Aid? We are seeking a passionate and experienced Wellbeing and First Aid Caregiver to administer front-line first aid, and to join the schools Wellbeing Team in supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students. This is a full-time, permanent position within our dynamic IB World School, where student safety and wellbeing is viewed as the foundation for learning within the schools challenging IB programs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Assess First Aid problems presented by pupils and staff, and take appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
Attend to minor medical needs of students, such as administer plasters, bandages etc as required, and look after students who feel ill.
Keep an up to date list of parent-reported allergies and special health needs of students.
Work together with other relevant staff at the school, to support the proper implementation of any individual health plan.
Ensure all emergency First Aid medical equipment is in good working order.
Contribute to the planning of students social and emotional wellbeing as a member of the school Wellbeing Team.
Develop and implement curriculum to support healthy lifestyles and choices.
Support teachers in the classroom, if requested, when health related topics are covered.
Advise on general health matters when requested by the staff and students, and communicate with parents as appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience
Up to date First Aid certification
Qualifications relating to childrens mental and physical health
Work experience with children ages 4-19
Understanding of Finlands health services and system
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators
Ability to work independently
A high energy level and a positive, flexible, and solution-oriented outlook
A caring, patient, and child-centered approach.
High levels of proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in English.
